The aim of the undergraduate medical curriculum is to produce independent doctors with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the present and future health needs of Yemen and for professional practice within the international community
At the end of the undergraduate medical curriculum, the student will be able to:
SC quire a broad knowledge and understanding of the structure and mechanism of the body in health and diseases
1 – Understand the relevant behavioral and social sciences and their interaction with the environment to prevent illness and promote health
2 – Generate curiosity, a desire to research and logical reasoning
3 – Integrate knowledge and manage its application to practice and its transfer from one filed to another.
4 – Demonstrate good listening, answering to questions, clarifying conditions and conveying bad news sympathetically.
5 – Explain diagnosis, prognosis and treatment in terms which patients and relatives can understand.
6 – Communicate with colleagues and other health workers using different media.
8 – Take a comprehensive, relevant medical and social history, perform a physical examination, record and interpret the findings and formulate an action plan to confirm or refute the diagnosis
9 – Distinguish serious conditions which require help and\or referral to a specialist.
10 – Apply management of emergencies, common problems and psychological distress.
11 – Adopt appropriate attitudes, ethical behavior and legal approaches to the practice of medicine
12 – Appreciate the role of the doctor as physician, teacher, manager, and researcher within multi-disciplinary health care teams
13 – Take own responsibility on his\her personal and professional development and performance through self-learning and self-assessment.

The term curriculum refers to why, how, when, where and with what a student will learn. A 'syllabus' refers only what is to be taught. A syllabus is essentially a list of content (e.g. facts, skills, attitudes) whereas the curriculum includes the aims of the course, the learning methods, assessment strategies and procedures, and organization of content.
To achieve its broad aims and objectives, the undergraduate medical education focuses on developing students understanding and skills relating to generic key concepts and principles, and tries to avoid teaching a plethora of factual information.
The core curriculum develops four explicit curriculum themes that are the hallmark of the undergraduate medical education at EAU.
* Structure and function in health and disease
* Individuals, groups and society
* Population perspective
* Professional values and personal growth

The core syllabus is designed to:
Equip the student to be a competent and caring doctor at qualification
Provide the student with up to date knowledge, information and skills underpinning current clinical practice:
Prepare the student to learn and train effectively throughout a post-graduate career.
Six education strategies have been identified relating to the curriculum in a medical school. Each issue can be represented as a spectrum or continuum: student-centered \ teacher-center-centered problem-based\information-gathering, integrated\disciplinebased, community based\hospitalbased, elective=uniform and systematicapprenticeship-based.

Dental Medicine
1.  Goals and Objectives at the College of Dentistry Level
The College of Dentistry’s vision is to be nationally prominent in Dental education, research and service and merit international recognition for quality in education, research and service.
The mission of the College of Dentistry is to educate and train the people for present as well as for future concern so that they become useful and productive members of health care team, thus, serving the needs of the society in a best possible way. The College of Dentistry is committed to provide an environment of academic excellence and research, and social responsibilities that facilitate the propagation and acquisition of knowledge and skills related to the profession of Dentistry and the disciplines in dental education.
The College’s program aims to promote dental education, enhance dental practice through a broad spectrum of knowledge reflecting a combination of simulations and clinical practice, prepare a generation of general dental practitioners with clinical competency, produce graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, and values to begin the practice of general dentistry serving Yemen citizens or any other geographic location of their choice.
  Maintain a high standard of dental education, research and services 
  Provide the job market with top dentistry graduates 
  Enable graduates to develop their capacity to learn and to become independent learners.
  Provide broad based scientifically strong education in dentistry that equips the graduates to enter all areas of the profession and to adapt to changes that may occur during their professional life.
  Produce graduates who are able to communicate and deliver dental care both in community and hospital settings.
  Ensure that students acquire clear understanding of their professional and ethical responsibilities towards their communities and humanity in large.
  Produce competent, confident and highly employable dentists.
  Widening access to higher education by producing highly competent graduates that are capable of carrying out postgraduate studies at local and international Universities.
  Participating in the process of improving and implementing oral health care in Yemen in cooperation with public and private sectors.
  Improving health care services provided to patients.
  Cooperating with local and international dental education and research centers in the field of research in order to enhance scientific knowledge in oral medicine and dental health care
  Participating in local and international scientific meetings.
2.  Goals and Outcomes at the Program Level
The curriculum of the D.D.S. program has been developed to provide learning opportunities enabling dental students to acquire fundamental knowledge develop basic skills and appreciate principles relevant to oral health care within a community context.  The College shall prepare its graduates to work in general practice, the community dental service, hospital practice, university teaching and research in various individual organizations. 
The Five -year curriculum has been designed to achieve the following goals:
1.  To meet the oral health needs of Yemen community by a blend of dental science and craft of medicine with emphasis on maxillofacial disease prevention and oro-dental health promotion.
2.  To prepare for evidence based dental practice in the changing health care environment of the 21st Century.
3.  To acquire the basic medical and dental knowledge and the skills that will allow the professional, ethical and humane practice of dentistry.
4.  To assimilate basic sciences with oral health sciences thus enable the students to apply their knowledge to oral health care.
5.  To incorporate clinical knowledge with clinical skills allowing the students to deliver efficient patient care.
6.  To develop a professional and considerate approach to the analysis and management of health care.
7.  To promote the acquisition of the skills, attitudes and behaviors that facilitates effective and appropriate interaction with patients and colleagues.
8.  To display training in dental education with international standards of dental practice.
9.  To produce caring, knowledgeable, competent and skillful dentists who are acquainted with and accept the obligation to practice in the best interest of the patient at all times.
Pharma D
The Pharmacy College aims to provide the students with an innovative, integrated, comprehensive and patient-centered Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D)Program to those qualified students, using world-class facilities, clinical simulations, using the latest technologies to ensure excellence in pharmacy practice for the graduates; the teaching/learning approach is based on directed self-learning, critical thinking, evidence-based and patient-related approach. The didactic part of the program focuses on the integration of basic and medical sciences subjects which are clinically oriented.
Clinical simulations in various subjects allow the students to enhance their skills and monitor their performance through self-assessments using I.T. learning means.
Students are exposed from the early stage to the clinical environment in order to better understanding the relations of the human body to the clinical practice.
Despite the tremendous progress achieved in the field of Pharmacy, we are facing nowadays new challenges that need more coordination and planning between the different decision makers at the Ministry of Health at the national level from one side and the academic institutions offering pharmaceutical programs from the other side, to determine the level of education needed in the region and to define the profile of the new graduates as per the needs of the community, knowing that drug consumption is quite higher if compared to the standards of living, this issue must recall the different  health authorities and educational institutions to define a strategy with precise objectives and outcomes to deal with this decisive challenge, promoting awareness among the populations at different levels , from schools to universities, ensuring that the graduates must reflect the needs of the community, emphasizing on preventive measures and providing qualitative services; to achieve these objectives, the concerned health authorities and universities must join their efforts to provide facilities for clinical training and internship, moreover, they may recall on the expertise and experience, if needed, of the various international health institutions and the support from international institutions and relevant companies which may contribute to promote the benefits of the clinical pharmacist education among the new graduates through school health programs, preventive measures while enhancing the clinical pharmacy services to the community.
The College of Pharmacy, at the Emirates American University, aims to lead this initiative, through the expertise of its faculties and staff, as defined in the mission and objectives and outcomes of the PHARM D. Program.
The Pharmacy College will be providing the students with the knowledge and skills to successfully face these challenges in a systemic academic manner that shall evolve continuously to meet these developments. The programs offered are dynamic and flexible to address the new challenges. Basic and Medical courses are integrated and clinically oriented, the learning methods will be dynamic and diversified; an innovative approach with combines the conventional learning methods to the clinical simulations which allow the students to acquire the clinical skills in a clinical like environment while the physical clinical training program will enhance the clinical skills of the students during their clinical training period, under qualified and dedicated clinical faculties and staff.
Program Mission:
The proposed pharmacy program will educate students to become competent pharmacists with fundamental knowledge in biomedical and behavioral sciences. The graduates will be dedicated to serve the communities and will carry out their pharmaceutical duties with the highest level of ethical and moral standards. The curriculum will also focus and emphasize on the importance of research and encourage student participation in research activities.
The program conception aims to promote the pharmacy education, enhance the pharmacy practice through a broad spectrum of knowledge which reflects a combination of simulations and clinical practice, prepare a generation of future pharmacists with clinical competency, produce graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, and values to begin the practice of pharmacy, to serve the citizens of Yemen or any other geographic location of their choice.
The mission supports that of EAU – “Participation in the health care and educational efforts of Yemen by providing educational opportunities in medicine and allied health sciences for aspiring students of all nationalities and extending its facilities to ensure provision of health care services in academic settings”.
The Pharmacy College offers a five-year program and one year internship program, leading to the degree of Pharmacy Doctor (PHARM D.) through a well-balanced didactic academic program which offers the students a range of general education courses that stimulates their critical thinking and widens their horizons, while the major courses consists of an integrated, clinically oriented program which combines clinical simulations in the major subjects and a comprehensive clinical training program, in addition, the internship program will be designed to allow the students to be prepared for their new professional life, enhancing their skills and gaining more self-confidence while working in a professional environment.
The pharmacy program consists of 11 semesters. The first two years of the curriculum are designed to educate students in biomedical sciences, behavioral sciences and clinical sciences courses.  During the third, fourth and fifth years, students will concentrate on advanced pharmaceutical studies and management under the strict supervision of qualified faculty.  The 10
th and 11th semester are the compulsory Internship year where students will be exposed to the different medical specialties to gain clinical experience through various rounds.
