Department of Biomedical Engineering


Pioneering and excellence in Biomedical Engineering education and research.

Mission Statement

Providing students with a solid Biomedical Engineering (BME) education, advancing the University through applied biomedical scientific research, and keeping pace with current developments in the field of BME. Serving the BME profession and the different BME-related healthcare facilities through the academic advancement, personal growth, and skill development of BME students, in addition to technology transfer to industry and continuous workforce training.



The objectives of the BME program at EAU are to produce graduates who are:

1.  Visionary engineers and problem solvers, utilizing a breadth of scientific knowledge to address contemporary issues at the interface of engineering, medicine, and biology within a global, societal, and economic context. 

2.  Leaders in biotechnology and medical industries both in the public and private sector capable of serving national and regional industries, hospitals, and government agencies.

3.  Ethically and socially conscious professional engineers functioning well in multi-disciplinary teams, effective in communicating ideas and technical information. 

4.  Independent learners who can master new knowledge and technologies, as well as, successfully engage in post-graduate studies and scientific research in engineering, medicine and biomedical sciences. 


The outcomes of the Biomedical Engineering Department at EAU are:

Department of Computer Science


Our mission, is to:


Provide excellent undergraduate and graduate education in a state-of-the-art environment, preparing students for careers as computer scientists in industry, government and academia;


Advance theoretical, experimental, and applied computer science through nationally and internationally recognized research by faculty and students; and


Support society by participating in and encouraging technology transfer.



Computer science permeates all modern endeavors in academia, government and industry, and its role will continue to grow. Through education and research, the Department of Computer Science will be recognized universally as a promoter of the centrality of computing in society.



The computer science program prepares students to identify computational problems in all areas of modern life, to design, implement, and analyze algorithmic solutions, and to build software for a variety of applications.

Through required, elective and special topics courses students are exposed to the foundations and current practices of computing and algorithms, software engineering, programming languages, operating systems, graphics and multimedia, scientific computing and numerical analysis, databases,

artificial intelligence and networks.

Department of Communication Engineering


To achieve a high standard Communication engineering education and research.


To provide an outstanding education for students in Communication engineering and to develop future leaders in the field. The acquired knowledge covers the fields of telecommunications, electronics, power, control and electric drives; enhanced with practical implementation.



The educational objectives of the Communication Engineering Program at the Emirate American University (EAU) are to produce graduates, who:

Department of Architecture & Interior Design


The Architecture programme integrates the study of architecture with interior design. We believe that well designed environments play a significant role in contributing to the success and profitable occupation and use of interior space.


Study is based on the practical application of interior and architectural design concepts.


Through a series of design projects, students will learn to coordinate the elements that create an exellent interior space, and which afford the opportunity to study structure, form, space, materials and textures, furniture, color & lighting.

Technology for design, alongside a philosophical, theoretical and historical appreciation of design and architecture, underpins and provides context for practical studio based projects.


This programme aims to:

- Provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to respond to the professional challenges ahead through innovative, responsible and sustainable design practices.

- Give the students a clear understanding of the international Interior Architecture market and industry structure.

The demands and requirements for well-designed interior spaces continue to change and develop, in response to public and commercial, new technologies, social and cultural practices.

The course aims to provide different changes through encouraging students to get and develop innovative and architectural interior design responses to these demands.

The degree is structured around a series of design projects, which develop according to physical and intellectual complexity; Examining, researching and developing creative solutions to changing issues of occupation and use.


Through CFAD’s three years Interior Architecture and Design programme, design assignments are set in a deliberate context with regards to existing buildings and their re-evaluation and refurbishment for contemporary use.


The programme framework comprises a four-year full time mode of study including a common Foundation year in Art and Design during the first stage of the programme together with 30 credit hours to fulfill general University requirements and electives.
